King’s Academy and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are delivering a series of National Becoming Simulation Faculty workshops. These workshops sit alongside the comprehensive online core course, which includes six mandatory eLearning modules that must be completed before attending the one-day, face-to-face workshop.
The workshop provides an experiential learning opportunity designed to extend and consolidate learning from the core eLearning modules. It focuses on key skills and behaviours that are important for new simulation faculty to explore, practise, and reflect on together. The programme is intended to be interactive, quality assured, and sustainable.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- explain the importance of understanding learner needs, expectations, and concerns when planning, designing, and delivering simulation-based learning
- identify approaches that align intended learning outcomes with the design and delivery of simulation activities
- discuss the principles and challenges of facilitating effective debriefing and feedback within experiential learning
- describe how evaluation methods can be used to demonstrate the impact and value of simulation-based activities
- identify their immediate professional development needs as simulation faculty, and outline next steps to support their development
